Malayalam literary erudite MT Vasudevan Nair’s short story collection turned anthology of nine movies is now streaming on Zee5. The ‘Manorathangal’ anthology comes with nine anthologies excerpted from the short stories and novels of the 91-year-old writer.

Veteran actor Kamal Haasan plays the narrator in Manorathagal, where he is also said to enunciate about the 1974 Malayalam film, ‘Kanyakumari’, a pivotal work from MT that helped the actor bag his first Filmfare award.

The anthology comes with a posse of great actors including the big Ms of Mollywood; Mammootty and Mohanlal. ‘Ollavum Theeravum’ starring Mohanlal, helmed by Priyadarshan is getting mixed reviews. The technical aspect is considered superior while the performances are also rated good. However, many reviewers have expressed their dismay at the incongruous casting of young actors in senile roles.

Mammootty’s ‘Kadugannawa Oru Yathra Kurippu’ was received well among reviewers, as many went high over the actor’s versatility in stepping into the shoes of the character journalist Venugopal. Many even pointed out the eerie similarity in treatment, the movie had with the 2007 movie ‘Kaiyoppu’.

Not many contrarian opinions arose when it came to ‘Sherlock’ directed by Mahesh Narayanan, which many rated as the best from the list of nine movies. Fahadh Faasil, as a layabout youth in Canada, relishing his time in the company of his pet cat ‘Sherlock’, towered as the best from 'Manorathangal'.

The anthology is streaming on Zee5 and is also on the trending list.
