THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Moderate rainfall is likely in Kerala on Friday after IMD issued an orange alert for two districts while nine districts have been placed under yellow alert. Idukki and Ernakulam districts have been placed under orange alert today. Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta district on Saturday. The Indian meteorological department predicted the rain to continue in Kerala until August 20th.
The Central Meteorological Department has further indicated that there is a possibility of light rain in isolated areas of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod over the next three hours. Isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph, with a potential maximum of 50 kmph, are expected through August 19. In light of these weather conditions, fishing activities have been banned along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts.
