THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor and Union Minister Suresh Gopi said that the report of the Justice Hema Committee appointed by the government to study the problems faced by women in the film industry should come out. "The recommendations of the committee should lead to innovation in the film industry and I hope that it will benefit the future generations to work without fear." Suresh Gopi said that he would respond further after studying the report as a representative of the people.
Actor and Kollam MLA Mukesh had said that nothing will happen if the report of the Justice Hema Committee is released. He said that he had spoken to the Hema Committee for four hours. Mukesh said that women from not only in the film industry but from all fields should be safe. Minister Saji Cherian has also stated that the government is ready to release the report. The minister said that there should be no rush and let the verdict come. "The matter is in the court. Why the hurry," asked the minister.
Actress Ranjini had filed a petition in the High Court against the release of the Justice Hema Committee's report. It was announced earlier that the report will be released today. Ranjini approached the High Court with the petition in the meantime. The High Court has not passed an interim order on the petition to stay the release of the report. The court had earlier informed that the petition would be considered on Monday. Ranjini approached the court seeking to ensure that there was no privacy violation in the report to be released. According to the petition of the actress, she was among those who gave statements before the Hema Committee. The petition also points out that a copy of the report should be made available to those who gave the statement, before the release of the report.
