KOCHI: It is reported that a woman committed suicide following threats from online loan app. Aarathy (31) was found hanging in her bedroom in Ernakulam Kanichattupara Aruvappara Kuriyapuram House. The incident happened Tuesday afternoon.

Her phone records indicate that Aarathy had taken a loan online and their threats led to her death. Her husband Anish went to Saudi Arabia for work two months ago. She has two children--Devadath and Devasurya. The Kurupampadi police prepared the inquest.

Nijo (40) of Kadamakudy, his wife Shilpa killed their two children and then they committed suicide following the threat of the loan app. A youth committed suicide in Wayanad after borrowing money from an online app. The dead is Ajay Raj of Arimula.

The housewife from Ernakulam took a loan of Rs 5,000 through the mobile app. She repaid the amount within a month. She was shocked after seeing the message she received from the app. The threat was they would circulate her nude picture if the amount is not repaid. When she sought legal help, she realized that she was only one of hundreds of women in a similar trap.

Companies with Chinese connections are behind the fake loan apps. These companies transfer loans through the bank accounts of ordinary people in North India by cheating them and giving them a share. Common people often fall into the trap.
