THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is an extensive search for the missing 13-year-old Assamese girl from Kazhakoottam. The girl is suspected to have gone to Chennai. The present conclusion is that she may have gone to Chennai via Tirunelveli route from Kanyakumari. A special team was formed to find her before she reaches Chennai. A joint team of RPF and Tamil Nadu Railway Police is engaged in the search operations. Her brother is in Chennai.


A detailed search is being conducted on Chennai-bound trains. The girl is likely to be more in the local compartment. The girl missing is Thasmin Beegum, eldest daughter of Anwar Hussain, living in a rented house near St Antony's School in Kazhakoottam. The girl left the house when her mother scolded her for quarrelling with her siblings.
The police received information that the girl was seen traveling on the Bengaluru-Kanyakumari Express and was in the train till Parassala. Babita, a passenger, saw her crying in the train and took her picture. The police are of the conclusion that she may have gone to Kanyakumari.


There was an information that the girl was seen standing outside the station at 5.30 am. The Tamil Nadu Police handed over the girl's photo to the Kanyakumari Autorickshaw Association. A search started at 4 am under the leadership of Kanyakumari DySP. The present search is based on the possibility of the girl going to the beach area.
