Suresh Gopi, the popular actor and politician, expressed his deep passion for filmmaking, stating that he would feel relieved if removed from his ministerial post to pursue his career in cinema. Suresh Gopi, who is set to begin shooting for his upcoming film Ottakkomban on September 6, emphasized that he needs the flexibility to fulfill his ministerial duties while on set.
"I will make this film. I asked for permission but didn't get it. However, on September 6, I'm starting the shooting of Ottakkomban. I seek everyone's blessings," Suresh Gopi said. He revealed that he has committed to 22 film scripts, showing his unwavering dedication to the industry. "When I mentioned that I have 22 films lined up, Amit Shah tossed the bundle of papers aside. But I've been assured that permission will be granted, and I will begin on September 6. Either I or the producer will arrange a caravan for three or four people from the ministry to accompany me on set."
Suresh Gopi candidly admitted that being relieved from his ministerial duties would allow him to focus more on his constituents in Thrissur. "If they send me away because of this, I’m saved. Then I can consider Thrissur people more and stay here. But as it stands, the people of Thrissur don’t fully understand me now. This situation wasn’t my wish or desire, but I was compelled by circumstances," he explained.
Reflecting on the significance of his political role, Suresh Gopi added, "This is the first incident of its kind in Kerala's political history. It was the determination of a community that brought me to this position. Such people deserve something in return. When they said that was my ministerial chair, I had to accept it. I will always obey my leaders. But cinema is my passion. If I don’t pursue it, I’ll die."
