MUVATTUPUZHA: The man who stole gold and one and a half lakh rupees and fled from Muvattupuzha, was arrested by the special investigation team of the police from Mumbai after 18 years. Mahindra Hashba Yadav (53), a resident of Georgian Link Road, Mulund, Mumbai, was arrested during the police investigation.
He was a goldsmith at a jewellery shop in Muvattupuzha. He first embezzled 240 grams of gold by making the customer believe that he would increase its purity. Later, he took a loan of one and a half lakh rupees from his friend. Later he left Muvattupuzha with his family. The police had reached his home at Palwan in Mumbai's Sangli district in search of him but could not find him.
Muvattupuzha DYSP PM Baiju, Inspector Basil Thomas, Sub-Inspectors Mahin Salim, Vishnu Raju, KK Rajesh, PK Vinas, PC Jayakumar and Senior Civil Police Officers KA Anas and Bibil Mohan made the arrest.
From worker to jewelery owner
The investigation of the case was reactivated under the supervision of District Police Chief Vaibhav Saxena. On detailed investigation, it was found that he is a jewelery owner in a rich area of Mumbai. Later, the police surrounded the house in the morning through a special operation and took him into custody.
