CHENNAI: Actor Vijay has unveiled the flag of his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Vijay unveiled the flag at a function held at the party headquarters in Chennai Panaiyur. The flag is red and maroon on the top and bottom. It is yellow in the middle with two elephants and a Vaagai flower, which is traditionally associated with victory in battle.

Vijay himself hoisted the flag on the 30-foot-tall flagpole installed at the party headquarters. Vijay said that he will eliminate differences based on caste, religion and gender.

Representatives from neighboring states including Kerala participated in the function. It is reported that the party representatives will contest in the 2026 Tamil Assembly elections. The flag unveiling is considered to be the first step in Vijay's political career. Vijay announced his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, in February. Vijay had announced that he was ending his film career and was aiming at the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections in 2026. The party's official song has also been released.
