THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain likely in Kerala. The Central Meteorological Department said there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph (maximum speed of 50 kmph).
According to IMD, there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts in the next three hours.

The cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep has strengthened into a low pressure in the central-east Arabian Sea over the Karnataka-Goa coast. A new cyclonic circulation is likely to form in North Bay of Bengal by the day after tomorrow. As a result, widespread moderate/average rains are likely over Kerala for the next five days.

According to IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places on August 24-26. A yellow alert has been declared in various districts on these days. There is a Yellow alert in Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Saturday and Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Sunday and Monday. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

IMD has informed that people should not go fishing in the Kerala - Lakshadweep - Karnataka coasts. Strong winds and bad weather conditions are possible along these coasts today and tomorrow with gusts of 35 to 45 kmph and occasional gusts of up to 55 kmph.
