The re-release trend in Malayalam cinema has gained momentum, with classic films like Sphadikam and Devadoothan receiving enthusiastic responses. The latest to join this list is the iconic Manichithrathazhu, which is currently playing to packed audiences in theaters.

Manichithrathazhu is celebrated for its evergreen songs, but there's a lingering issue with one particular track, "Akkuthikkuth," which remains unaddressed even after 31 years. Sung by G. Venugopal, Chitra and Sujatha, the song was never credited correctly. G Venugopal’s name was omitted from the title card at the time of the original release and this error persists in the new digital print.

Venugopal expressed his disappointment on Facebook, noting that despite the re-release, his name still doesn't appear in the credits. He shared insights into the song’s history, explaining that "Akkuthikkuth" was initially intended for a different scene but was later used as a title song, leading to his name being left out.

Venugopal also reminisced about his experiences during the making of Manichithrathazhu, including working with composer M G Radhakrishnan, who took extended leaves from his job at All India Radio to work on the film’s music. Despite the credit oversight, Venugopal cherishes the memories associated with the film’s music, emphasizing that while the title card may lack his name, his voice and the memories will always remain.
