ALAPPUZHA: Following the release of the Hema Committee report, Minister M B Rajesh addressed remarks made by actress Parvathy Thiruvoth regarding the upcoming Cinema Conclave. Responding to Parvathy's concerns—where she questioned if the conclave was intended to bring victims and predators together—the minister clarified the situation during a media interaction in Alappuzha, without directly mentioning her name.
Minister Rajesh emphasized that Kerala is the only state in the country to have conducted a comprehensive and detailed study of issues within the film industry, resulting in the Hema Committee report. He praised the government's bold stance, noting that no other state has taken such decisive action. He also addressed the delay in releasing the report, explaining that it was due to the sensitive nature of the testimonies given to the committee under the assurance of confidentiality. This delay, he mentioned, was explained by the Chief Minister, who affirmed the government’s commitment to transparency.
Regarding the Cinema Conclave, Minister Rajesh refuted the interpretation that it would bring victims and predators together. "No details of the conclave have been announced yet, so how can such a conclusion be drawn?" he questioned. The minister stressed that the government's sole intention is to develop a comprehensive policy for the cinema sector, a goal that both the Culture Minister and the Chief Minister have reiterated. He dismissed claims that the conclave would bring together victims and their alleged perpetrators as baseless and incorrect.
