NEW DELHI: The BJP central leadership is deeply dissatisfied with Union Minister Suresh Gopi's statement that he would be happy if his ministerial post is taken back. The leadership is deeply resentful of him mentioning Amit Shah's name in his speech. Reports said Suresh Gopi may not be given permission to act in films while serving as the union minister.

If he continues taking a tough stand, the center may consider removing him from the cabinet. His statement that when he said that he has 22 films to do, Amit Shah took that bundle of papers and threw it to one side, this statement had angered the leadership a lot. Ministers are not allowed to engage in other money-making activities as per the ministerial code of conduct. Apart from this, the Center fears that if Suresh Gopi is given permission, it may lead to other issues.

Suresh Gopi's controversial remark was while delivering a speech at the reception accorded by the Film chamber recently. The actor said that he will continue doing films.

Suresh Gopi’s words
'I will do films. Asked permission, but did not get. On September 6, I will start shooting for Ottakomban. Need everyone's blessings. Agreed to do 22 films. When told Amit Shah about doing 22 films, Amit Shah took the bundle of papers and threw it to one side. He said permission will be given and I will come to the state on September 6. Me or the producer would give a caravan for three or four people from the ministry to do my work. '

'Now if they take back my ministerial berth, I would be happy. I will then be able to consider my people more in Thrissur. I can stay there. Now, I am not able tod do that. The people of Thrissur are not getting me completely. This is not what I wanted or desired. I knelt before one question. This is the first incident in Kerala. It is political history. It was the determination of a society that made you win. I have to gift them something in return. When said that it is your ministerial chair, I had to give in. I will always obey my leaders. But cinema is my passion. If I don't, I'll die.'

Suresh Gopi is BJP's first Lok Sabha MP from Kerala. Suresh Gopi defeated the leading candidates from the left and right fronts with a huge majority. He got the ministerial berth on that consideration. There were reports that he was resentful of not getting a cabinet ministership and was reluctant to accept the ministerial post. However, he accepted the post.

Suresh Gopi's many statements and actions had created a headache for the central and state leaderships of the party. Some of his actions have led to trolls.
