Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian has come with a new explanation on the allegations against director Ranjith. The government will not protect anyone who commits a mistake. The minister also clarified that action will be taken if the allegations against film academy chairman Ranjith are proved. His explanation was via a Facebook post.
The minister earlier responded in a manner protecting director Ranjith on the allegations levelled by Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra. The issue needs to be examined. The minister said no case will be taken on the allegation but if a complaint if filed, a case will be registered. The government is with the victim and not with the stalkers. Saji Cherian said the government will examine if a complaint is filed.
Ranjith is a talented artist India has seen. A case can be filed only if a complaint is given in writing. A case cannot be taken in the name of a report or an allegation. The minister while talking to the media said the decision to remove Ranjith from his duties is the responsibility of the CPM.
Sreelekha Mitra had the other day revealed that director Ranjith misbehaved with her when she same to act in ‘Paleri Manikyam’ in 2009-10. She said that she spent the whole night in the hotel in fear.
The actress said that she had complained to documentary director Joshi Joseph about the incident. However, the actress said that no one contacted her later. Mitra said that she did not get a chance in Paleri Manikyam and even other Malayalam films. She said that she was denied opportunity only because she objected to his misbehaviour.
