THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra said that she is firm on her allegations levelled against film academy chairman and director Ranjith. She said that it is difficult to proceed with the case from Bengal and if anyone in Kerala helps, will proceed with legal action. The actress also demanded director Ranjith to confess the mistake he had committed.
Sreelekha Mitra had said that after being called from Bengal to act in 'Paleri Manikyam', Ranjith started playing with her bangles, touched her skin, caressed her hair and when he tried to touch her neck, she left the room. The actress then said that she returned the next day without acting in the film. The actress levelled the allegations against Ranjith the other day.
The actress said though he did not sexually abuse her, his behavior was giving hints to it. Meantime, the government initially clarified that action will be taken only if the person's name is mentioned. The Youth Congress had lodged a complaint with the DGP demanding an inquiry against Ranjith. Opposition leader V D Satheesan demanded that Ranjith and Saji Cherian should step down from their posts. He also blamed the government and Minister Saji Cherian for hoarding the Hema Committee report for years. He said the government is with the stalkers.
Meantime, Minister Veena George clarified that she will not support anyone who has done wrong and has full support for the actress. The minister informed that further action will be taken on the report if necessary. Meanwhile, Minister Saji Cherian clarified via Facebook that the government will not protect anyone who has committed a mistake and if the allegations against Ranjith are proved, action will be taken.
