THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Saji Cherian announced that he will accept director Ranjith's resignation, following recent controversies. The minister also expressed frustration, stating that some media outlets have distorted his statements from the previous day.

"Some media have portrayed me as anti-women. I have three daughters, a wife, and a mother at home. I strongly oppose any actions against women. Unfortunately, my words were twisted and I was misrepresented. The government stands with the victim, not with the perpetrators. If any offense has been committed, legal action will be taken upon receiving a complaint. If Ranjith submits his resignation letter, the government will accept it. The Left's politics and ideology are feminist at their core. My statements were misinterpreted, which is why I am cautious about speaking to the media," Saji Cherian clarified.

The controversy erupted after Saji Cherian's comments the previous day, where he described Ranjith as a talented artist and stated that legal action could only be taken if a formal written complaint was filed, not merely on the basis of reports or allegations.

The issue gained further traction when actress Srilekha Mitra recently revealed that during the filming of "Paleri Manikyam," directed by Ranjith in 2009-10, the director had behaved inappropriately. She also recounted spending an entire night in a hotel in fear due to his actions.
