THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government is all set to investigate the Hema Committee report and the allegations made by women in the film industry. A seven-member investigation team, including four women officers, has been assigned for the preliminary investigation of the case. The decision was taken based on the discussion held by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan with top police officials. The allegations against actor Siddique and director Ranjith are mainly being investigated.

The team headed by IG Sparjan Kumar includes DIG S Ajitha Begum, AIG G Poonkuzhali, SP Merin Joseph, Aishwarya Donkre, Madhusudhanan and V Ajith. Case will not be filed on the Hema Committee report, but those who have made the allegations may testify before the investigation team. The case may be filed if they stick to the complaint. Anyone who has a complaint related to sexual exploitation in the film industry can approach the investigation team.

The investigation team will examine the matter related to the new disclosure. Meanwhile, there will be no inquiry now in the cases where the atrocities were revealed before the Hema Committee. The decision is because the matter is under the consideration of the High Court. Earlier, director Ranjith had resigned as the chairman of the film academy in the wake of Bengali actress Srilekha Mitra's revelations. Srilekha Mitra filed a complaint against Ranjith after the Hema Committee report came out.

Actor Siddique also resigned from the post of general secretary of actors organization 'Amma' after an actress filed a sexual assault complaint. The actress alleges that Siddique molested her years ago. The actress said that she was sexually harassed at Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram after being invited for a chance in a film. The investigation team was appointed when there was strong criticism that the government was not making a move despite the serious findings in the Hema Committee report and the actresses coming forward publicly.
