KOCHI: The executive meet of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) scheduled to convene tomorrow to discuss the controversies that stoked after the release of the Hema Committee report, has been postponed. The meet has been postponed due to the inconvenience of actor and AMMA president Mohanlal.
Other actors of the organization said Mohanlal had earlier demanded to attend the meeting directly and it has been postponed due to his convenience. The meeting is crucial at a time when allegations against filmmakers are intensifying. AMMA office-bearers said the new date will be announced soon.
Siddique, general secretary of AMMA had resigned after sexual allegations were levelled against him. It is in this situation AMMA decided to convene an urgent meeting tomorrow. It is heard that Hema Committee report will be discussed in the meeting. A new general secretary should also be elected. Also, AMMA’s stand should be clarified on the allegations raised daily.
Meantime, a section wants Jagadish as the general secretary of the association. There is also a move to hold discussions with the members of Women in Collective Cinema (WCC). Jagadish from AMMA was the first to come forward with a strong stand. Jagadish responded that it should not be kept apart as an isolated incident and that the question of whether this is not the case in many workplaces is not relevant to the society.
