Images and videos of pothole-ridden Bengaluru roads frequently go viral on social media, often mocking the government's inaction. One such video, now widely discussed online, comes from Udupi, Karnataka, featuring the character 'Yamarajan' and a group of souls.
In the video, 'Yamarajan' is seen conducting a long jump competition, with the road filled with potholes serving as the track. The souls are shown jumping over these pits, while Yamarajan observes and judges who makes the best leap. As each participant jumps, Yamarajan measures the pit, adding a satirical touch to the grim reality. The video was shot on the Adi Udupimalpe road, which connects to the famous Malpe beach in Udupi.
This creative protest was organized to draw attention to the serious issues caused by potholes on the roads. Many people have been injured after falling into these hazardous pits, prompting the need for such demonstrations to urge authorities to take action.
This isn't the first time a unique protest has gone viral. Earlier this year, a woman's protest in Hyderabad gained widespread attention after she sat in a muddy pothole to highlight the deplorable condition of the city's roads. She revealed that her children had been injured due to these potholes and noted that there were around 30 such pits on the Nagole to Uppal stretch. In her protest, she questioned where the road tax and municipal tax funds were being used.
