KOCHI: The chief of the ‘power group’, which we heard after the release of the Hema Committee report, is Dileep. Till 2017, this power group controlled the film associations. Prithviraj, Kunchacko Boban, Parvathy Thiruvoth, Bhavana and many other actors lost their chance due to Dileep's intervention. After the actress was assaulted, there was an attempt to silence the WCC activists.

It is heard that many associations in the Malayalam film industry including AMMA, was under the control of Dileep, the eighth accused in the actor assault case. Dileep is handling the entire affairs of the film. Even when the actress was assaulted, Edavela Babu, K B Ganesh Kumar, Mukesh, Suresh, B Unnikrishnan and others were with Dileep. It was Dileep who controlled when the film should be released and who should be the hero and heroine. The directors and producers were pressured to replace the actors playing the lead roles. Dileep also controlled the release of the film abroad.

Dileep kept Prithviraj away from movies after a dispute related to Satyam film. Bhavana had directly complained to the then AMMA general secretary Edavela Babu, that she is being kept away from films. Edavela Babu had mentioned this in his statement to the police. Despite receiving complaints, AMMA did not consider this. Kunchacko Boban, Ramya Nambeesan, many others and WCC members were kept apart.

Actors are banned even if oppose those in the power group in a small manner. Actors disliked by the power group will also be banned. The Hema committee report said people in the power group are barring many from films.
