CHENNAI: A man sleeping on the road was run over by actress Rekha Nair’s car. The incident happened at Saidapet in Tamil Nadu. The dead is Manjan (55) of Annai Sathya Nagar in Jafferkhanpet. The police said that he was drunk and the accident happened when he was sleeping on the pavement at West Jafferkhanpet.

Manjan seriously injured was rushed to the hospital but his life could not be saved. The Guindy police registered a case and traced the car after examining the CCTV footage. The actress’ driver Pandi was arrested and the car was seized. The driver was booked on charges of causing death due to negligence. The police said the actress was in the car when the accident happened.

Rekha Nair, who is also a writer, became famous with the movie 'Iravin Nizhal' directed by Parthipan. The actress has acted in many Tamil movies and serials and anchored in Tamil channels.
