CHENNAI: Khushbu, actress and member of the National Commission for Women, opened up about her bad experience after the release of the Hema Committee report, which led to major controversies in the Malayalam film industry. In an interview to a media, the actress clarified that she had a bad experience from a producer in her early days in South Indian film.

'A producer approached me taking advantage of the fact that I was alone in the film industry. I didn't have a godfather here. So, he must have thought that I would succumb to the pressure. The shooting of a Telugu film was going on. He entered my make-up room and gave me a hint. I removed my slippers and told him I wear 41 (slipper size). I then asked him should I slap you here or do you want me to hit you in front of the unit. That put him in place,’ said Khushbu. The actress asked not only women, but also men to come forward and support them.

Her note on social media after reacting to the Hema committee report had garnered a lot of attention. Hema Committee was very necessary to prevent abuses. Her note said that this should be an opportunity for everyone to be recognized.

'It doesn't matter whether your revelation is today or tomorrow. The sooner you tell, the sooner the wounds will heal and the investigation will be more efficient. The survivor will be a stranger to you and me but she needs our support. It took her so long to speak about her father’s abuse. What happened to me was not a compromise to grow my career. I was exploited by the strongest arms who should have protected me. This exploitation should stop and asked women not to compromise.
