KOCHI: Actor and Kollam MLA Mukesh, who is embroiled in sexual harassment allegations following the Hema Committee report, has travelled to Kochi. He journeyed from Thiruvananthapuram to Kochi in a car with the MLA board removed, accompanied by police security throughout the trip. Mukesh's visit to Kochi is reportedly to discuss his legal strategy with his lawyer in relation to the sexual harassment case.
Upon arriving in Kochi, Mukesh immediately visited his lawyer, Jiyo Paul, without stopping at his own flat in Ernakulam. Jiyo Paul has already filed an anticipatory bail application on Mukesh's behalf. Previously, Mukesh claimed that the actress who accused him of sexual misconduct had attempted to blackmail him and that he had evidence to support this claim. He suggested that the allegations were made out of revenge after he refused to pay the money demanded.
As the police have taken up the rape case, the opposition parties are intensifying their demands for Mukesh's resignation. However, Mukesh has expressed his willingness to cooperate fully with any investigation. His lawyer, Jiyo Paul, stated that Mukesh is prepared to appear before the investigating officer, give a statement, and participate in any required interrogation.
Meanwhile, the CPM state secretariat met in Thiruvananthapuram today. The party, led by State Secretary MV Govindan, has taken the stance that Mukesh should not resign. Govindan clarified that the issue was not discussed in the meeting. In contrast, the CPI is pushing for Mukesh to step down from his position as MLA. CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam has met with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to discuss the matter, further escalating the political pressure on Mukesh.
