THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state industries department has constituted a four-member task force to coordinate the further work of the Palakkad Industrial Smart City announced by the Centre.

The project is being implemented by the Kerala Industrial Corridor Development Corporation in which the central and state governments each have 50 percent participation. Minister P Rajeev said in a press conference that KINFRA will act as the state agency for this.

The task force was formed to coordinate the measures in the state. The members are Principal Secretary Industries Department APM Mohammed Hanish, KSIDC MD S Harikishore, KINFRA MD Santhosh Koshy Thomas and KINFRA General Manager TB Ambili.

Coordination related to various departments will be done by a committee headed by the Chief Secretary. A team led by the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation CEO will arrive in September to assess the project's activities. The Centre has approved the master plan and detailed project document. A global tender will be invited within two months. A Project Management Consultant will also be appointed. The state has spent Rs 1759.92 crore to acquire the land. The central government is providing infrastructure by spending an equal amount. The total cost of the project is Rs 3815 crore.

For Industry: 673.42 acres

Although the project is intended to be implemented on 1710 acres, 59.11 percent of the 1139.41 acres (673.42 acres) of the existing land will be set aside for industry.

Residential Area: 64.83 Acres

Roads: 134.48 Acres

Open Space: 37.5 acres

Watershed (to be conserved): 8.41 Acres
