KOLKATA: In the wake of the recent tragic rape and murder of a young doctor at RG Kar Hospital, another disturbing incident has emerged from West Bengal, where a nurse was sexually assaulted while on duty at a hospital.

The assault occurred on Saturday night at Ilambazar Health Center in Birbhum district. The victim, a nurse on night duty, reported that a patient under her care in the emergency department inappropriately touched her while she was administering saline as per the doctor's orders. The patient was accompanied by his family members at the time of the incident.

The nurse stated that the patient not only touched her private parts but also verbally abused her during the assault. Following her complaint, the police have arrested the patient.

"This happened due to a lack of proper security. How else could a patient behave this way, even in the presence of his family?" the nurse remarked, expressing her concerns about the safety of healthcare workers in such environments.
