THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is holding talks with DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib in the wake of CPM independent MLA P V Anwar's allegations that have shaken the office of the chief minister and the home department. The DGP met the Chief Minister at Natakam Guest House in Kottayam.

Anwar had alleged that ADGP M R Ajith Kumar, who is in charge of law and order, had killed people in connection with gold smuggling in Karipur and Pathanamthitta SP Sujith Das had stolen the gold coming through Karipur. The home department had given a report to the chief minister that the two officials should be removed from the charge of law and order, as the credibility of the government has become a matter of questioning. In this situation, it is also possible to announce an investigation by keeping both of them aside.

There is also a possibility of suspending SP Sujith Das, who called Anwar and pleaded to withdraw the tree felling case. ADGP Ajith Kumar had the other day called on the DGP and Chief Minister and had explained his side. The chief minister will take a decision as soon as he gets DGP's report. The recommendation of the home department is to immediately remove both of them from law-and-order duties and conduct an investigation.

According to the report, the allegation extends to murder and gold smuggling and it is serious. The government is looking at the possibility of pleas seeking an investigation against both of them, reaching the court. When SP's controversial phone conversation came out the other day, the chief minister had already sought a report from the home department. According to that, the report was given yesterday.
