KOTTAYAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced an investigation on the allegations leveled by Nilambur MLA P V Anwar against top officers of the state police force. The chief minister ordered a probe against ADGP M R Ajith Kumar. The chief minister announced the inquiry while inaugurating the representative meeting of the police association state meet in Kottayam.
The chief minister said strict action will be taken if anyone acts against discipline and the allegations will be investigated by top officials. 'Will investigate without prejudgment. No matter how high he is, action will be taken without looking at his face. Trouble makers in the police force have been avoided. 108 people were fired in ten years. A single mistake becomes a whole stain. There will be further action without compromise. Honest officials will have unwavering support. The officials should work independently and fairly,' said the chief minister at the public function in Kottayam.
In the wake of Anwar's allegations, a meeting was held between the chief minister and the DGP today. An investigation was announced after this. Anwar had alleged that ADGP M R Ajith Kumar in charge of law and order, had killed people in connection with gold smuggling in Karipur and Pathanamthitta SP Sujith Das had stolen the gold coming through Karipur.
The home department had given a report to the chief minister that the two officials should be removed from the charge of law and order, as the credibility of the government has become a matter of questioning. ADGP Ajith Kumar had called on the DGP and the chief minister and explained his side.
