In an uneasy scene, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday announced the decision to conduct a high-level inquiry into the serious allegations levelled by ruling MLA PV Anwar. The announcement was made at a stage which also had the accused in attendance. The Chief Minister's announcement was made at the police association meeting held in Kottayam on Monday morning. CM making the announcement on a public stage itself proves the magnitude of the allegations made. The ADGP will be removed from his post and an investigation will be conducted.
The suspension of Pathanamthitta SP and the serious allegations against ADGP have now put the police force in a pickle. Apart from the police duo, the shocking allegations also targeted CM’s political secretary P Sasi. The coming days would be gripping for political analysts as most are clueless about how the party would act against the powerful political secretary.
Anwar testifies that the activities of the political secretary in association with the ADGP are similar to the shady dealings of mafia groups. It is up to the Chief Minister and his party to decide how to deal with the allegations.
However, it remains imperative to investigate the allegations levelled against the police chiefs and take strong action to strengthen restore peoples trust in the police force.
According to the Chief Minister, the investigation against ADGP Ajithkumar will be at the DGP level. The investigation will be straightforward devoid of any bias. Chief Minister's words were lucid to discern the warning that those who tarnish the reputation of police force have no place in the system. Appalling stories are now emerging against the ADGP.
People will cast doubt on the entire investigation until the truth comes out. One should not be carried away from the fact that the serious allegations are levelled against an officer responsible for overall law and order in the state. Similarly, the allegation that another parallel system under the Political Secretary functioning in CM’s office also needs attention. The shock wave of accusations against ADGP and SP comes when the party is embroiled in controversy over the decision to remove a senior member EP Jayarajan from the post of convenor of the Left Front.
