THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Tirunelveli native was arrested in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday after he reached the lottery office claiming to have won the Monsoon Bumper of 10 crores. Selvakumar of Pillayarkovil Street No.7/170A in Mayamankurichi approached the lottery office but was arrested by Museum police for possessing a fake lottery ticket. The friends who accompanied Selvakumar were also taken into custody.
The ticket that won the first prize in the draw held on August 5 was handed over to the lottery directorate two weeks ago. While the process was ongoing, Selvakumar, totally unware of the development, approached the lottery office with the fake ticket. He had high hopes of taking the money back home.
The fake ticket had security features including a lottery seal, the director's signature and a QR code.
