THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of Operation P Hunt, the Kerala police conducted extensive inspections across the state, targeting people involved in searching, collecting, and sharing explicit images of children online. Yesterday alone, 455 locations were checked.
The police reported that 37 cases have been registered statewide, leading to the arrest of six individuals. The arrests were made in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram Rural, Kollam City, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode Rural and Kasaragod. During the operation, a total of 173 electronic devices were seized across 20 police districts. Additionally, 107 reports were filed under Section 106 of the Indian Civil Code.
Malappuram district saw the highest number of inspections, with 60 locations searched and 23 devices seized. In Thiruvananthapuram Rural, 39 locations were inspected, resulting in the seizure of 29 devices. Thiruvananthapuram City saw 22 inspections, from which five devices were recovered.
Pathanamthitta district conducted the fewest inspections, with only eight locations searched. Other districts with notable activity include Alappuzha (eight locations), Kollam (seven), Kasaragod (five), Palakkad (four) and Thrissur (three in both the rural and city areas). Each of the following districts—Thiruvananthapuram Rural, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram and Kozhikode Rural—registered one case each.
