THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: IG Lakshmana, who was suspended in connection with the Monson Mavunkal financial fraud case, has been reinstated to service. Lakshmana was reinstated as Police Training IG after a chargesheet was filed in court. The decision to reinstate Lakshmana was taken based on the recommendation of the Suspension Review Committee, which suggested that he be reinstated following the completion of the investigation.

The Crime Branch had concluded its investigation into the antique case against Monson Mavunkal, the accused. The final charge sheet was submitted without being able to recover the entire amount of money allegedly taken by Monson from the complainant. Although former DIG S. Surendran and IG Lakshmana were named in the charge sheet, it was reported to the court that there was no evidence to suggest that the officials had accepted any money.

Although high-ranking police officers were involved in the financial fraud case involving Monson, the investigation was concluded without any significant findings against them. Former DIG S. Surendran, IG Lakshmana, Surendran's wife Bindulekha, and sculptor Santhosh are among the accused in the second and third phase charge sheets.
