PEERUMEDU: A youth was murdered by hitting on the head with a wire rod during an argument over watching TV. His brother and mother were arrested for murder. Ajith (29) and his mother Tulasi (55) have been arrested in connection with the murder of Akhil Babu (31), a native of Peerumedu.
Akhil was found tied to an Areca palm near his house on Tuesday night. Akhil was dead by the time the locals took him to the Peerumedu Taluk Hospital. After the brother and mother gave contradictory answers to the police, both were taken into custody on Wednesday. During the hours-long interrogation by the Peerumedu DYSP and team, both confessed to the crime.
According to the police, Ajith hit Akhil on the head with a wire rod during an argument over watching TV. Akhil pushed his mother Tulasi who came to stop the fight, aggravating the situation. Ajith draged the unconscious Akhil and tied him to the Areca palm. The police say that he died lying here.
The post-mortem report stated that the cause of death was head injury and bleeding. Ajith had pressed his hand firmly on Akhil's neck. After registering the arrest, the police brought Ajith and Tulasi to their house in Plakkathadam yesterday afternoon and took evidence.
Ajith is the first defendant and Tulasi is the second defendant. Both were produced before the Peerumedu Court and remanded after medical examination.
