NEW DELHI: Many women in the Malayalam film industry had faced unpleasant incidents, said actress and former MP Sumalatha. Many women have told her about such experiences, clarified Sumalatha in an interview to a media.

Sumalatha appreciated the women who narrated their ordeals and the WCC. All these were open secrets that no one in the film industry would reveal. All that has surfaced now. She said that it is an important moment in history.

Sumalatha said many of the stories heard earlier are frightening and action is needed in all these. The government should take steps to ensure the safety of women in workplaces. Sumalatha stated that she will send a letter to the central government demanding a constitutional system.

Most of the sets she had worked with were like a family. However, many women have privately told her that if chances are to be obtained, they should cooperate, and if not, some will follow and haunt you. Power groups are a reality, she added.

Sumalatha demanded that actress Radhika Sarath Kumar's revelation about hidden cameras in caravan is shocking and that it should be investigated. Radhika revealed that on the set of the Malayalam film she acted, hidden cameras were placed in caravans to capture the nude scenes of the actresses.
