KOCHI: A court in Kochi has raised questions about the credibility of a sexual assault complaint filed against actor and Kollam MLA Mukesh. The complainant, an actress, had alleged that Mukesh forced her into sexual relations in 2010. However, the court found discrepancies in her statement and rejected the allegation.
The court observed that the actress's first and second statements did not provide any evidence of sexual assault. Additionally, she failed to explain the reason for the discrepancy in her second statement.
The court also took into account a WhatsApp message sent by the actress to Mukesh in 2022 demanding one lakh rupees, as well as a New Year's greeting message that contradicts her claim of harassment. According to the complainant's statement, Mukesh had taken her to his villa in Maradu in his BMW car on the day of the alleged harassment in 2010 and sexually assaulted her. Mukesh himself dropped the complainant back at her flat in Aluva on the same day. The court pointed out that these statements do not indicate that the complainant was sexually assaulted by the actor.
It was only after all these events that the actress sent a WhatsApp message to Mukesh in 2022 demanding one lakh rupees. The court pointed out that the complainant is a law graduate. The court questioned how someone who has practised law could claim to be unaware of the basic legal provisions.
Mukesh has already been granted bail in the case. He had filed a bail application in the Principal Sessions Court on the 29th of last month. Following this, the court recorded the actress's statement again on the 30th.
