THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A four-cent plot of land and a house will be handed over to Biju and his family, who had been living under the Thakaraparambu flyover in the heart of the capital city. The property’s registration has been completed and a ceremony will take place today at 4 pm at the Manroe Island Mangrove Holidays Resort.
Kunnathur constituency MLA Kovoor Kunjumon will officially present the house keys to Biju and his family, while former Union Minister of State V. Muralidharan will hand over the deed of the property. Muntrothuruth gram panchayat president Mini Suryakumar will inaugurate the event.
Kerala Kaumudi Kollam unit chief and resident editor S. Radhakrishnan will serve as the chairman of the event, and Swami Vishalananda of Sivagiri Math will deliver the blessing discourse. Other speakers include Binu Karunakaran, former president of Muntrothuruth gram panchayat; gram panchayat member Prasannakumar; Kerala Kaumudi correspondent PK Sreekumar; and Biju himself.
Biju and his family had been under the care of Dasan at Das Vilas in Munroe Island, Kollam, following a report by Kerala Kaumudi. Dasan had generously reserved part of his family property for Biju and his family after their plight was highlighted.
The family's difficult situation stemmed from a severe head injury Biju sustained during construction work, leading to substantial medical expenses and the subsequent sale of their house. With no alternative, Biju and his dependents had taken refuge under the flyover.
