THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a surprising turn of events, the third allotment list for engineering admissions was cancelled and withdrawn due to an error in transferring eligible students from the reservation category to the general merit list.
The allotment list, initially published on Thursday midnight, was retracted on Friday morning after anomalies were detected. A revised allotment list was published on the website by evening, following corrections.
The changes affected around 300 students in government colleges and over 1,000 students in self-financing colleges. Minister R. Bindu, who identified the reservation anomaly, called for an investigation into the matter.
Unlike previous years, new options were invited from students after two allotments this time. As a result, the transfer from reservation seat to merit seat in the third allotment became impossible. Students who secured admission to reserved seats in the second allotment had to continue with their existing allotment, while those with lower ranks gained admission under the merit category.
The Entrance Commission assured that there were no discrepancies in the allotment process and released an updated list, incorporating both new and existing opt-ins.
Students who received allotment must secure admission by Sep 10
The third phase allotment for engineering, architecture, and pharmacy courses has been published on the website cee.kerala.gov.in. Those who have received allotment must secure admission in the respective colleges by 3 pm on September 10. Details are available on the website. Help Line: 0471-2525300.
