KARACHI: When a shopping mall becomes operational, it will change the overall face of the area itself. Shopping malls anywhere in the world enjoy a great welcome as many people will get employment as part of it. Malls announcing some offers for customers when it start functioning is a regular practice. However, the tragic story of a mall that had to be closed on the same day it was inaugurated in a celebratory manner is coming from the port city of Karachi in Pakistan.

A foreign businessman built a mall in his hometown after a long-standing wish, using the money he earned by doing business. However, some announcements made to attract customers to the mall on the first day led to the closure of the mall. With the announcement of massive discounts for goods, people rushed to the mall and things went out of control.

Considering the rush, security arrangements were made by the police and security personnel on the first day. However, the people broke all this and went inside the mall and took away the goods from there. What happened inside the mall is what can be described as a mob that was publicly looting the mall. The bizarre incident took place at Gulistan-e-Johar Mall in Karachi. It is learnt that the security personnel who tried to stop them were beaten up by the mob.
