premkumar

Premkumar has stepped into the role of Chairman of the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy at a time when the Malayalam film industry is facing a series of controversies. He is the first actor in the Academy's 26-year history to hold this prestigious position, though it is currently a temporary assignment.

“I don’t plan my life step by step. There are many legends in Malayalam cinema and I believe this opportunity came to me through God’s grace. I’m fully aware of the great responsibility the government has placed on me and there’s a lot of work ahead,” he shared in an interview with ‘Kerala Kaumudi’.

“Ranjith is a good friend of mine and his resignation was not a happy event. However, I am confident that with the support of the government, I can carry out the responsibilities entrusted to me with grace,” he added. Premkumar also praised the dedication of the Academy’s team.

Premkumar condemned the mass resignation within AMMA, calling for the return of members not facing accusations. “While those facing allegations should step aside, there are no charges against Mohanlal, the president of AMMA. He and others who are not implicated should come back,” Premkumar asserted.
