THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Trivandrum Royals won by eight wickets against Phineas Thrissur Titans in the Kerala Cricket League. Trivandrum overcame the target of 130 runs in 17.5 overs. MS Akhil's unbeaten 54 from 37 balls laid the foundation for Trivandrum's victory. Govind Pai scored an unbeaten 30 off 23 balls.
Trivandrum lost only the wickets of opener Riya Basheer who scored 22 runs from 26 balls and S Subu who scored 21 runs from 22 balls. The team easily trotted to victory with Thrissur bowlers failing to bring wickets during decisive intervals.
Trivandrum Royals won the toss and sent Thrissur Titans into bat in a match that started late due to rain. Thrissur's opener Anand Sagar returned to the pavilion after getting out in the very first bowl by M U Harikrishnan. Captain Varun Nayanar, who held on till the 16th over was stumped in N Srihariās bowl. Varun scored 28 runs from 38 balls.
Akshay Manohar was the top scorer with an unbeaten 35 off 21 balls. Thrissur ended the batting with a score of 129 for six in the allotted 20 overs. Trivandrum captain Abdul Basit conceded 23 runs in four overs and took two wickets.
