KOCHI: The High Court has issued a strict directive prohibiting dangerous stunts in vehicles within educational institutions, emphasizing strict legal action against the vehicle owners and drivers involved in reckless driving during the Onam celebrations at Farook College, Kozhikode and Kannur College. A division bench, comprising Justice Anil K. Narendran and Justice P.G. Ajith Kumar, instructed the police chief and the transport commissioner to ensure stringent action is taken.

The court's intervention was prompted by media reports highlighting the incident.

All vehicles involved in the incidents at the Kozhikode and Kannur colleges have been ordered to be seized and inspected. Senior officials from the Motor Vehicles Department have been tasked with determining if these vehicles were illegally modified. Additionally, the court directed that the details of the students involved in these stunts be handed over to the authorities.

The government has responded by announcing that action has been initiated, including potential cancellation of the drivers' licenses. Photographs of eight seized vehicles were submitted to the court. The case has been adjourned to the 27th, with the transport commissioner instructed to present a detailed report by then.
