THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The highest sale of liquor in Kerala takes place during the Onam, Christmas and New Year seasons.
It is the highest during Onam. However, things are not as expected in liquor sales during this year's Onam season. There is a decrease of Rs 14 crore compared to last year.
Sales worth Rs 701 crore were recorded this year. Despite the increase in the number of bars, there has been a significant decline in the sale of liquor. Sales worth Rs 715 crore were recorded last year. Meanwhile, BEVCO data shows that there has been an increase of Rs 4 crore in the sale of liquor on Uthradam Day.
