THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central government has given one-and-a-half months time to Kerala. The central government has informed that the mustering of the ration card should be completed by this time or else rice will not be provided. Following the directive, the government has already initiated steps for mustering. Ration card mustering will resume in the state from Wednesday.

The food department had decided to carry out ration card mustering earlier itself but it was stopped due to server failure. The distribution of rations and mustering could not be done simultaneously through the e-POS machine. The government decided to suspend the mustering after the mustering process adversely affected the distribution of ration. However, the Centre has written to the state government asking it to complete the mustering by October 31.

In the letter sent by the Centre, it was said that the Centre will not give the rice quota if all those who have their names on the ration card do not complete the mastering. The Public Distribution Department decided to conduct mustering immediately following this. The districts will be divided into three and mustering will be done on special dates. In addition to ration shops, special facilities will be arranged in Anganwadis and schools for mustering.
