MALAPPURAM: A youth has been admitted to Manjeri Medical College in Malappuram with suspected monkey pox (M pox) symptoms. A 38-year-old youth of Edavanna, who reached his hometown from Dubai a week ago, is under observation. His saliva samples have been sent to Kozhikode Medical College Virology Lab. The youth with symptoms continues to be under observation.

The youth, who came from abroad was admitted to the hospital with symptoms yesterday. The youth came to the dermatology department of the hospital for treatment. He was put under observation after having fever and skin rashes similar to chicken pox. The authorities informed that the precaution is based on the suspicion of M pox and are waiting for the test results and there is no need to worry presently.

After monkey pox was confirmed for the first time in the country, this is the first time in Kerala that a person with symptoms of the disease has been put under observation.
