NEW DELHI: ISL football team Punjab FC has filed a formal complaint with the All India Football Federation over the referee’s decision to flash just a yellow card for the scary challenge from Kerala Blaster’s player Rahul KP on Punjab's Luka Majcen.

In a press release, Punjab FC informed about Majcen suffering a broken jaw, which will put him on side-lines for the next six weeks. This would be a heavy blow for the team since Majcen was their star striker, who used to easily penetrate opposition defences and shake the goal net.

In the letter forwarded to AIFF, Punjab FC called Rahul KP’s challenge a ‘rugby tackle’ and termed the referee’s decision erroneous.

“Aggressive behaviour in such games yields nothing. The foul from the Kerala Blaster’s player was unwanted” said Punjab FC's statement.

A disciplinary committee of AIFF is expected to look into the matter and give a possible conclusion soon. Majcen will have to undergo surgery and will return only after getting cleared by the club’s medical team.
