THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Central Meteorological Department has warned that dry weather will continue in Kerala for the next five days. As per the forecast of Central Meteorological Department, dry weather warning has been issued for various districts. Warning has been issued in Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad and Malappuram districts. Dry weather is forecast for Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on September 20 and 21.
Climate researchers are also predicting drought as it is a repeat of previous years. The trend is for summer rains to increase, monsoons to decrease or weaken, followed by stronger summers. There was a 178% increase in rainfall between January and February. Later, the rains that were left increased by 87 percent by the end of May. Kottayam also witnessed the heaviest summer rains in recent times. The rain continued until last month.
Meanwhile, there is no ban on fishing in Kerala coast and Lakshadweep. The temperature in Kerala will continue as in previous days. Tamil Nadu will experience heat up to 40 degrees. Daytime temperatures will rise above normal temperatures. Temperatures in Tamil Nadu will rise up to four degrees above normal. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal will experience heat on 19th and 20th of this month. The Meteorological Department has also issued a heat warning in these areas before the end of monsoon.
