BILASPUR: In a dangerous precedent, a six-meter-long iron rod was found across the railway track. The rod was found on the tracks between Bilaspur Road and Rudrapur City stations in Chhattisgarh. The loco pilot noticed the iron rod on the track and informed the Rudrapur station master. Railway in a statement condemned and termed the incident as an attempt to derail the passenger train. A major tragedy was averted after loco pilots applied the emergency brakes to stop the train.

It was just days back that congress alleged conspiracy behind the recurring train accidents in the country. At the same time, Center had also announced a special investigation, suspecting a coup attempt behind the frequent accidents.

The Bilaspur incident took place on Wednesday at 10.18 pm. The iron rod was spotted on the track by the loco pilot of train no.12091. The police registered a case under the Railway Act and registered an FIR. Earlier this month, a similar incident was reported in Rajasthan's Ajmer.

Two large pieces of bricks were laid on the track in Rajasthan but the loco pilots acted wise and averted any untoward incidents. Before that, an attempt was made to derail a train by placing LPG cylinders on the tracks in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. The Congress has alleged that the increase in rail accidents in the last 10 years as the result of mismanagement and neglect of the Modi government.
