KOLLAM: Police said that the accused in the Mynagappally hit-and-run case are drug addicts. The police had found that the two had taken a room in a hotel the day before the accident and had used MDMA, a narcotic drug. According to the police, the two had booked rooms thrice in the hotel in September alone.
According to the police, the duo had booked rooms in the hotel on September 14 and on September 1 and 9. The accused used deadly drugs after taking a room in the hotel and staying there for hours. Liquor bottles and equipment used to administer chemical intoxication were also recovered from the hotel room. The police are planning to send these for chemical testing.
The police have also collected CCTV footage of the two visiting the hotel in Karunagappally town several times. The police's custody application also shows serious findings against them. According to the police, the accused were addicted to drugs at the time of questioning and both of them had used MDMA. The custody application also states that both of them were drunk.
The prosecution told the court that the source of MDMA and whether the accused were involved in illegal activities after consuming drugs needs to be ascertained. The Sasthamkotta magistrate court had remanded both of them in police custody. The bail plea of the accused, who are in custody till Sunday, will be considered on Monday. Meanwhile, Sreekutty's mother Surabhi had revealed to the media that she is not divorced but is separated from her husband.
