THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A complaint has been lodged that around five crore rupees were swindled from youths across the state by promising them jobs abroad. The scam came to light when around 50 youths staged a protest in front of the Brookport Travel and Logistics Institute in Sasthamangalam the other day. Around 60 cases have been registered at various stations against the couple and their son, who own the firm. The accused have been identified as Dolce Josephine, her husband Saju Simon and son Rohit Saju.
The firm has been closed for six months. The victims of the scam say they are unable to contact them over the phone. People from Thiruvananthapuram to Mangalore are victims of the scam.
According to the complaint, the accused had taken Rs 2 lakh to Rs 10.5 lakh by promising work visas in Canada, USA and UK. Many asked to payback their money as they could not get their travel documents. The owners fled after this. NORKA is also not aware of the institute that is not registered under immigration law.
Many approached the institute after seeing an advertisement that those who do not have higher education also have opportunities in basic jobs abroad. It was informed that the visa will be issued within months if the amount is handed over.
Meanwhile, the owner of the building said that they had rented the room in the name of spice trade.

Brookport Travel and Logistics MD Dolce Josephine said the complaints were intended to defame her and the firm. "All of them handed over the money after reading and signing the contracts. It is true that there was a delay. Things have been communicated to everyone via e-mail. I'm under threat. They are trying to destroy the company. I have lodged a complaint with the chief minister and the DySP.
