THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ADGP MR Ajith Kumar, who is facing a Vigilance probe into allegations of unauthorized wealth, bribery, and gold smuggling, is likely to be removed from law and order duty. The CPI, which has been firm on its demand for Ajith Kumar's removal, criticised the Chief Minister's action of supporting the ADGP through an article in the party's mouthpiece. The RJD party, another constituent party, has also
extended support to CPI. Additionally, the CPI is dissatisfied with the Thrissur Pooram disruption controversy.

The Kerala government recently faced an embarrassing setback when a police RTI response revealed that no investigation was underway into the Thrissur Pooram disruption controversy, contrary to the Chief Minister's earlier announcement that the ADGP would lead the probe.

Vigilance Director DGP Yogesh Gupta will lead the team probing the allegations against ADGP Ajith Kumar. However, all other members of the team are subordinates of Ajith Kumar. SP Johnkutty, who previously reported to Ajith Kumar, is also part of the team. This presents a potential challenge, as junior officers may face limitations when questioning, recording statements, or gathering evidence from a senior officer like Ajith Kumar, who oversees law and order.

Following the court order for a vigilance probe into the Palmolein case, former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy transferred the responsibility of the Vigilance Department to Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.

PV Anvar MLA has alleged that Ajith is trying to subvert the evidence and enquiring about the probe by directly calling officials.
