KANNUR: A young woman admitted to Pariyaram Medical College in Kannur, with suspected Monkeypox symptoms, has tested negative for the virus and has been diagnosed with Chickenpox instead. The woman, who returned from abroad on September 1, had been showing symptoms similar to Monkeypox, prompting her hospitalization for observation and treatment.
After showing symptoms for a week, she was admitted to the hospital and later shifted to isolation as a precautionary measure due to suspicions of Mpox (Monkeypox). Fortunately, her test results confirmed that she didn't have the virus, bringing relief to the entire district and health department.
A Malappuram native who arrived from abroad the other day had tested positive for Monkeypox. This is the second Mpox case reported in India. The patient is a 38-year-old man who returned from the UAE.
