WASHINGTON: Have you ever wondered if the bill you are paying is for the electricity used in your home itself? If you check the bill, you will be able to understand the truth of this. Sometimes when there are more charges on the bill, we go to the office to enquire about it. One such thing that a man has recently discovered is going viral on social media.

The electricity bill he paid for 18 years actually belonged to his neighbour. The incident took place in the US. Ken Wilson, a customer at Pacific Gas and Electric Company, was the victim of the accident. Ken noticed that the current bill was rising too high and tried to reduce the use of electricity but the high electricity bill kept on repeating. Even when the breaker was off, his current bill kept increasing.

Ken then contacted the company. The issue was found in an inspection conducted by the company. Ken was paying the bill for the next apartment. The company found that the customer's apartment meter number was mixed up with the number in another apartment and that Ken was being sent the bill for that apartment since 2009. The company has reportedly acknowledged its mistake and apologised. The company said it will check the meter number of other customers as well so that such a mistake does not come again.
